Technical data
Floorstanding Loudspeaker TBTL:

- impedance: 6 Ohm
- rated SPL (2.83V/1m): 90 dB
- size (HxWxD): 115 x 21 x 42 cm
- frequency range (-8dB): 32 - 40 000 Hz
- crossover frequencies: 150 and 3000 Hz
- speaker type: transmission line cabinet
The floorstanding TBTL (Tang Band Transmission Line) is a 3 way speaker with one Omnes Audio MT2.02 magnetostat, one Tang Band W4-657 B midrange driver and one Tang Band W69-1042 oval bass driver.

Verdict by Hobby HiFi: "These slim, but seen from the side rather massive loudspeakers were surprisingly uncritical with regard to placement: a distance of less than 50 cm from the rear wall was perfectly all right, a precise orientation towards the listener was not necessary. On the contrary: the inner side walls should just be visible from the listening position. Then the stage had the right width and depth. The tree-dimensional properties were quite close to considerably more expensive loudspeakers. Spatial sound sources that are within reach let the listener forget that relatively low-priced drivers were being used. Tonality tends to be on the balanced and rather unobtrusive side. Those who are not used to this type of sound or want to use these speakers in a heavily dampened room will find a different, high frequency boosting set-up on page 21. We cottoned up quickly to this honest and unflashy sound, since the reproduction showed a particular authenticity and was simply believable. Particularly worth mentioning is the low frequency performance. The bass sound is rather soft, typically transmission line, but exceptionally low. Compared to even top quality bass reflex speakers, the TBTL excels in attention to detail. There are details in abundance, and that's something that can be seldom found coming from bass reflex speakers. Cranking up the volume at the end of the listening session left the TBTL unmoved. Excessive levels were processed without batting an eyelid, meaning that this speaker plays really well even at higher volumes. Our 100 cubic metre listening room fill was pumped up by these slim, tall transmission line speakers with a sumptuous and rich sound, but without neglecting the attention to detail. The TBTL possesses all the characteristics required for large rooms."
