Ephedra is a 2 way floorstanding speaker with professional Monacor drivers. The kit is delivered with the SP-12/200PA woofer and the MRD-180 mounted on a MRH-200 horn. Ephedra has been developed by Holger Barske and Thomas Schmidt.
The crossover consists of a second order high-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) for the tweeter and for the woofer a second order low-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) .
The frequency response of this loudspeaker is linear on axis with a sag between 2000 Hz and 4000 Hz. The decay spectrum shows small resonances; apart from that it is nearly without fault . At low volume, i.e. 85 dB at 1 m, the nonlinear distortions are lower than 1% above 300 Hz and doesn't exceed 1,5% at 95 dB at 1 m .
Kit without cabinet, price per speaker - not available
The high-end kit comes with ClarityCap capacitors of high quality and a Jantzen Cross Cap. The inductances are baked varnish air core coils for minimizing microphonic effects. - The current flow through the coil creates a magnetic field which sets the reel of wire in motion. This motion induces a voltage in the coil which adds itself to the signal. The stiffer the reel of wire is, the less the signal will be altered.
Kit with high-end-crossover without cabinet, price per speaker - not available
If you want to use a valve amplifier with this speaker an impedance correction should be employed. In this case the component quality is less important; therefore, we offer only one kit (upon request higher quality components are available).
If you prefer to mount the crossover components on a 240 x 165 mm universal PCB instead on wood: Universal PCB RA240, order no.. str-RA240, price per unit: EUR 8,60 excl. VAT: € 7.23 / $ 7.44 We recommend one plate for one kit (for a pair of speakers you need 2 plates)
