CT 281 is a low-cost kit with Visaton drivers: A tweeter and two fullrange drivers. CT 281 has been developed by Thomas Schmidt.
The crossover consists of a second order high-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) for the tweeter and for the two fullrange drivers a second order low-pass filter (12 dB per octave slope) .
The frequency response of this speaker is balanced. The decay spectrum is nearly perfect. At low volume, i.e. 85 dB at 1 m, the nonlinear distortions are lower than 0.5% above 300 Hz and rises not over 1% at 95 dB at 1 m.
Kit without cabinet, price per speaker EUR 99,50 excl. VAT: € 83.61 / $ 86.12
The high-end kit comes with an ClarityCap ESA capacitor instead of an Audaphon MKP capacitor. All inductances are baked varnished coils for minimizing microphonic effects. - The current flow through the coil creates a magnetic field which sets the reel of wire in motion. This motion induces a voltage in the coil which adds itself to the signal. The stiffer the reel of wire is, the less the signal will be altered.
Kit without cabinet, price per speaker EUR 116,00 excl. VAT: € 97.48 / $ 100.40
If you prefer to mount the crossover components on a 140 x 102 mm universal PCB instead on wood: Universal PCB RA140, order no.. str-RA140, price per unit: EUR 4,20 excl. VAT: € 3.53 / $ 3.64 We recommend one boards per kit (two boards for a speaker pair)
