Using the Micro Horn 2011 as an example Bernd Timmermanns wants to show how small a horn could be. As driver he chose the Fostex FE 103 full range.

The exaggeration of mid frequencies are corrected by a wave trap. Further corrections, like impedance linearization, are implemented by components in parallel to the driver.

"For the listening test we placed the Micro Horns on stands of 60 cm height. The rear wall helped to somewhat reinforce the bass. We put on Scream Machine" by James Morrison, waiting for what was going to happen. Funky brass sections blended with plucked bass - that's a piece of cake for the Micro Horns. The diminutive radiators certainly rose to the challenge. The music arrived exactly where it was aimed at: the stomach. At the same time the speakers were quite capable of displaying different virtues. They staggered the brass section accurately, positioned the bass dead center and carefully avoided muddling the instruments.

Encouraged by this we played "Havana Cafe" by Paquito D'Rivera. This recording is less aggressive, but shows a larger instrumental variety. Here as well, the Micro Horns were in absolute control and carefully avoided producing a mush of sounds. Clearly, the Micro Horns show immense musical talented. Instrumental music is reproduced with lots of verve, convincing dynamics and, considering the Micro Horn's talent - an adequate power handling. At the same time they neatly differentiate between instruments and place them in traceable positions. "

Impedance correction

If you want to use a valve amplifier with this speaker an impedance correction should be employed. In this case the component quality is less important; therefore, we offer only one kit (upon request higher quality components are available).
