Thorsten Fischer from akustik art (Wilhelmplatz 5, 24106 Kiel, Germany) is the designer of Vettern, a beautiful floorstanding speaker with affordable drivers. The main component is the Omnes Audio full range driver BB 3.01, complemented by a TangBand W6-1108SA for extended bass capability.
F.A.S.T. means Full range And Subwoofer Technology.
Excerpt of the review in Klang+Ton 4/2006: "Even though the frequency response is not ultra linear, this speaker reproduces any kind of music type, from pop over rock to classical extremely neutral and well balanced. It's almost impossible to assign a characteristic to this loudspeaker. That's why my notepad, where I usually write down my impressions, remained empty for quite some time. Bass, mids and tops do exist without doubt. But they don't try to attract the listener's attention, they rather work together in harmony. I do enjoy euphemistic fun speakers, but I also appreciate distinctive neutrality, since this is just closer to the truth. To reproduce exactly what's on the record that's what this speaker does really well. If the recording is not exciting then the F.A.S.T. doesn't make it up, if the recording is boring so will be the reproduction. If a top quality CD Player is being used, then this speaker displays a surprising vehemence. Especially volume jumps are reproduced without too much compression and within their natural limits, which are, by the way, relatively high. The BB 3.01 starts whining only at extreme volumes. In fact, without a wave trap there was a slight coloration, playing back well known music material, e.g. instruments like cymbals sound different than usual. Whether one should exchange this flaw for the disadvantage of having more (even top quality) components in the signal path is up to the listener. This speaker is suitable for dedicated listening but also for background music where, nonetheless, every note is audible. It's an outstanding mix, not just for neutrality fanatics."
