Looking at the frequency response a slight presence is noticeable, favouring vocals of any kind.
Excerpt from the review in Klang+Ton 5/2008: "I don't want to beat about the bush: this is a speaker for vocals. Sure, bass and tops are there, too, and in surprising quality. The Cheap Trick 238's forte is the reproduction of sounds generated by the human vocal cords. But that hardly affects the sound balance. The overall balance is rather well-rounded. The bass is sonorous and is sufficiently low, the tweeter occasionally sets some highlights and retreats again, adapting to the overall sound balance. After all, it's the much-loved singers who reveal the charm of this speaker, a charm that let's the CT 238 flourish and come to life. It's the ideal speaker to forget everything around you and simply listen to music. As expected, the maximum output is limited, but still reaches volumes beyond the generally accepted decibels and is in no way inferior to other small speakers. What's more, they cannot teach the CT 238 anything in sound balance and three-dimensionality and the 50 Euros of drivers stand up for themselves. Such an accentuated midrange, however, is not offered by anything but full range drivers. The CT 238 is the perfect speaker for background music, fits into the smallest gap and gobbles up any type of music. And everything is reproduced in such a heart-rending manner that you'll catch yourself listening again. - A miniature charmer at a Cheap Trick price." Our kit consists of:
