Cheap Trick CT 217 full range speaker with bass support from Klang+Ton 5/05

CT 217 aus K+T 5/2005
Technical data of the CT 217:
- size (HxWxD): 100 x 21.7x 18.9 cm
- impedance: 8 Ohm
- sensitivity (2.83V/1m): 85 dB
- frequency range (-8dB): 60 - 18000 Hz
- crossover frequency: 650 Hz
- cabinet type: bass reflex
The CT 217 is a bass reflex loudspeaker, equipped with a Tangband W4-655C (like our Simon) and an oval Tangband W69-1042 for bass.

Udo Wohlgemuth designed the cabinet's beautiful looks by rounding off one side. How to do this is clearly described in Klang + Ton 5/2005. Those who regard this as too much work may also built a rectangular cabinet with a width of 21 cm (without building instruction).

CT 217 and CT 218 Review by Klang +Ton
After a short explanation that ELCO's may be used as a chip trick, without driving all audiophiles away: "On the contrary, the audiophiles confirmed that the CT 217 has a pleasant basic sound, reproducing the correct size of all instruments. Those who were sitting in the centre had to inform the others of the cleanly decaying cymbals played by Antolini in "Nice Day". The precise and deep bass, to be expected from a loudspeaker this size, were noticed by the listeners sitting outside the centre anyway. Clarinet and trombone in the following "Save It Pretty Mama" showed this much loved sweetness, and the trumpet blared without any annoying harmonics. Three-dimensionality and placement of instruments didn't leave anything to be desired. Listening to Vivaldi's "Four Seasons", often a horror scenario for reviewers due to a coloured midrange, a visitor to the editorial office noticed for the first time that a harpsichord is playing in the background. When at Beethoven's "Moonshine Sonata" the pianist didn't pound his grand piano to pieces, all of us were convinced that cheap components didn't harm the sound quality. In conjunction with CT 218's the home cinema fans had an enjoyable evening. They didn't discover any flaws, though they used a subwoofer that was standing around for dramatic movie scenes like collapsing buildings. Then they noticed that the CT's could also played loud."...
